For dine-in guests, the setting is practical and clean, with essential amenities like a restroom available, making longer, leisurely meals more comfortable.

To round things out, Almond Cookies are a simple yet nostalgic finish. Lightly sweet with a gentle crunch, they’re often shared at the table or enjoyed slowly with tea. What customers say?

“ This restaurant offered good food at a decent price. We enjoyed the lunch portions of Chicken and Broccoli, Beef and Green Peppers, and The Cashew Chicken. The portions were large and enough for two meals. The server checked labels for me for my caramel color allergy and specifically told me what I could and could not have. I would eat here again and I'm sure this is a popular spot in the neighborhood. ”

“ This little, tiny hole-in-the-wall restaurant with a boarded up front window is incredible. I’ve eaten there probably 10 times now waiting to find something to complain about and besides the discomfort of my back in their booths I have nothing bad to say. Their food is incredible and consistent. The egg roll are top notch, the sweet sauce is delightful, the hot and sour soup is amazing and the won ton soup is tasty. The bbq ribs are so so good. Nice and tangy. Then the Beef and peapods never disappoints, the Mongolian Shrimp is just right and the Empress Chicken with pan fried noodles is scrumptious. There’s never anyone in there when my husband and I are there…I don’t know why. The food is great!! ”

“ This is hands down the best Chinese food I've ever had. The portions are a great size for sharing and everything was hot and fresh. The vegetables were so fresh and not soggy and the meet is perfectly tender and coated in delectable sauces. The man serving food is so sweet and really friendly! Definitely recommend coming here! ”

“ I've been searching old Chinese American Food that can deliver the memories I have growing up in Chicago area. I think this place delivers. Its outdated decor might not please everyone, but place like this doesn't need fancy decor. Even the owner has that mild sour apathetic attitude that appeals to my memory on place like this. I ordered egg roll and beef chop suey. Not typical Chinese but its Americanized Chinese food that's been discarded by generation of the 90 and after. I miss a good chop suey. Some people consider it garbage food, but on a cold day, like today, the hot chop suey gravy, hits the right spot. I didn't like the egg roll with peanut butter mixed filling, but the rest of the meal was pretty good. I will definitely go back. ”

“ “Palace Cantonese is a hidden gem that deserves all the hype.” The Beef Egg Fu Young? Absolute perfection — fluffy, rich, and full of flavor in every bite. The Spicy Beef Fried Rice? Simply amazing… the kind of dish that keeps you coming back over and over. And don’t even get me started on the Veggie Egg Rolls — golden, crispy, and packed with fresh flavor. Every plate feels like comfort food done right, with that authentic Cantonese taste that hits both tradition and satisfaction. The portions are generous, the flavors bold, and the service makes you feel at home. This isn’t just dinner — it’s a food experience worth sharing. #TrueAuthenticOriginal #ChicagoEats #FoodieFinds #YeahYeahYeahDoIt #PalaceCantonese #OneChicagoMasterpiece ”

“ Hidden in plain sight, old school Chinese restaurant vibes with real ma and pa energy. Portions are pretty big, prices are super reasonable (kind of wild for this economy), and the food just hits. Service is quick, they bring out hot tea right away, and the menu has plenty of options. I love that the meals come with soup, and the lunch specials even on Saturdays are clutch. Everything feels simple, comforting, and real. Definitely a spot I’d come back to without thinking twice. ”

“ My Mom and I were looking for a new (new to us) Chinese-American restaurant. Palace Cantonese surpassed all expectations. Every plate we had was delicious and food was hot. The service by Calvin was outstanding. We entered the restaurant and were the only ones during this late lunch time. We sat in the comfortable and cozy booth (firm for what my back needs). Right away, Calvin brought delicious hot tea and water. The Fried Won Ton, which is hard to find without meat, was perfectly fried, not soggy. The cup of egg drop soup was a generous portion, more like a medium bowl. The veggie egg rolls were large and tasty. The Chicken Szechuan, was like a kung pao chicken and very flavorful. I loved the touch from Calvin bringing extra peanuts without us asking. He also asked if we needed more tea even though our steel carafe was half full. At similar restaurants, I’ve not seen that service. The final touch was receiving 2 almond cookies (plus fortune cookies), which my Mom and I love. It’s my new favorite restaurant which I will be patronizing every time I’m in Chicago. ”
